Overcoming Adversity to Become a Beacon of Hope
My life has been a journey of immense challenges, resilience, and transformation. From experiencing the foster care system, group homes, placements and Juvenile detention centers. Through out childhood, I faced abuse, neglect, and the instability in an era where vulnerable lives often fell through the cracks. My path even led me through a failed justice system as an adult. I endured abuse various of relationships, and tragically from a absence, my children faced intense amongst the equivalent. Despite my fight for justice, the system failed us. Yet through God’s grace and unwavering faith, I found the strength to transform my pain into purpose.
However, the 1980s brought another wave of challenges, as narcotics ravaged and tore down our family's and communities. Thank God, by the grace of God, the Narcotics gave me a pass, I still emotionally experienced the devastating effects that were everywhere, from households to households. That formed me to hustle to meet basic needs like food or hygiene for myself and younger siblings from the age of 13. My grandmother’s stability was my anchor, offering a glimpse of resilience amid chaos.
Today, I dedicate my life to providing the care and guidance I had very little of. Through faith-based counseling, I work to create safe, nurturing spaces where youth who’ve experienced trauma can heal emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Being familiar with love ones battling addiction deepens my mission to help others find hope and strength in their darkest moments. I am committed to walking alongside those in need, ensuring they feel seen, supported, and empowered to rebuild their lives. My story is one of survival and redemption—a testament to the power of faith and the ability to turn pain into purpose. Through this work, I strive to be a beacon of hope for those seeking healing and a brighter future.
